eau décontaminée

Industrial/marine environmental intervention and management.

CONTAMINATED WATER COMES MAINLY FROM WASHING OF TANKS OF OIL PRODUCTS OR CHEMICALS, WASHING OF EQUIPMENT ON SHIPS, AS WELL AS CONTAMINATED SITES.

The decontamination process of water contaminated with petroleum or chemical products allows to separate the oil from the water for purposes of recuperating the oil, as well as to decontaminate polluted waters to, at the end of the process, dispose of it through the municipal sewer system.

APPROACH

  • Upon receipt, a sample is taken and we measure the pH and the percentages of water, oil, and mud.
  • The liquid undergoes primary treatment where the oil and water are separated. Oil is stored in a tank in anticipation of its recovery by a specialized enterprise. The water is sent to a settling tank in which are added decanting agents in a quantity determined by jar tests.
  • The clarified water is analyzed and subjected to a secondary treatment. According to chemical demand for oxygen (DCO), the liquid is filtered with active coal (low COD) or a biological reactor (high COD). Once this treatment is completed, water is stored temporarily and then rejected to the municipal sewer system.
  • For its rejection to the sewer, the water must meet the standards of the municipality as well as those of the Department of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change (MDDELCC). To this end, analysis are performed by an independent laboratory.
